Join us for an immersive, four-hour watercolor workshop designed to demystify the art of painting dynamic water and crashing waves. ​Whether you want to master the translucent glow of a wave's crest or the delicate spray of seafoam, this session will give you the practical skills and confidence to bring the ocean to life on paper. ​ What You Will Learn - ​During this intensive, hands-on workshop, we will break down the complex structure of moving water into achievable, step-by-step techniques: - ​Capturing Transparency & Light: Learn how to create that vibrant, sun-drenched "glow" inside the belly of a curling wave. ​ - The Physics of Foam & Spray: Master the essential techniques for rendering realistic seafoam, splashing water, and textured ripples without losing your highlights. - ​Creating Depth and Movement: Discover how to use color gradients—from deep, dramatic ultramarines to brilliant turquoises—to give your ocean paintings incredible depth and motion. ​ - Atmospheric Skies: Practice painting soft, dramatic clouds that perfectly complement and frame your seascape. ​ What to Expect ​This is a supportive, creative space where you'll receive step-by-step guidance and live demonstrations, but you are also welcome to adjust and make changes on your own. We will have a reference image. We will use it to sketch from and to observe the wave and sea foam. You will leave the workshop with a beautiful, finished wave painting of your own and a toolkit of professional techniques you can apply to any future water landscape. We will learn the best techniques for painting water, which involves painting on very wet paper that we wet back and front. You will have the chance to paint on high-quality professional paper, which is essential for achieving the best results. Materials included: 1. High-quality watercolor paper, Saunders Waterford, 12x16 in, 140lb, Cold Press 2. Pad for painting with watercolors 3. Cups and napkins Materials to bring: 1. Your Favorite Watercolor Paints 2.
